We provide opportunities for Canadians to learn and compete in the sport of foosball.
About Us
Canada Foosball (aka the Table Soccer Association of Canada or “TSAC”) is a non-profit organization (NPO) created in 2006 with the mission to provide growth, development and leadership to Canadian players. We organize the national team and send our best Canadian players to compete in the International Table Soccer Federation’s World Cup tournament every other year.
We are volunteers and dedicated members representing regional and local table soccer clubs across the country.
Brief History
In the beginning of the 20th century, foosball tables started to be imported from Europe and became popular in major urban areas of eastern Canada. Coming from Italy, the Garlando brand became the preferred table for competitive players. Today, western Canadian players primarily use Tornado tables, while eastern players prefer a mix of Bonzini, Garlando, and Tornado.
There are now five ITSF official foosball tables: Tornado, Bonzini, Garlando, Roberto Sport and Leonhart. Team Canada has historically chosen Tornado and Bonzini as their home table for the ITSF World Cup tournaments.
Local Clubs
We provide opportunities for Canadians to learn, participate and compete in the sport of foosball at all levels. We are currently made up of clubs representing British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec. Each club operates weekly tournaments which are opened to players of all skill levels. Our player base includes hundreds of internationally ranked players, as well as thousands of recreational players from coast-to-coast.
Team Canada
Competitive foosball in our country has been growing steadily over the last few decades. Weekly leagues exist in major cities across the country. Approximately 1,500 players regularly participate in our local and regional events!
The passion we share for our sport has developed professional level players that represent Team Canada on the international stage. In 2013, Canada won the Tier-Two Division which allowed us to compete in the top category for the following World Cup. Team Canada is very proud to have some of the world’s top women’s players, including the 2016 female world champion - Linda Ly.
Our Vision
By promoting our sport at local, provincial and national levels, we aim to grow and improve our player base in Canada. We are recognized by the ITSF as the national governing body for the sport of foosball in Canada. Our current focus is to become a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletics Association (RCAAA), with the ultimate goal of getting the sport of table soccer recognized by the Canadian Olympic committee.
Giving Back
We are blessed to have passionate volunteers that drive our organization. Our volunteers develop and operate programs to help local clubs promote our sport. As a non-profit organization, we invest all proceeds from sponsorships, donations, memberships and shop sales to support these programs. Our team is always looking for support to help our local clubs grow. If you feel the passion and want to get involved, please reach out through our Contact page.
